About the Ranong Man and Biosphere Knowledge Initiative:

 

The Ranong MAB promotes wide-spread multi-disciplinary research through the Mangrove Forest Research Center. Furthermore, the staff here at the Mangrove Forest Research Center believe that without dissemination of knowledge to the public, research loses its inherent value. 

 

Often-times, research is "locked" within academic papers. Academic papers can be difficult to gain access to, time-demanding to comprehend, and esoteric. Thus, the Ranong MAB looks to make the research being conducted within the reserve easily accessible to people of all backgrounds.

 

Through the initiative, we look to translate the purpose of the study, methods, major findings, and recommendations for future research into an easy, readable form. Our belief is that by increasing accessibility to knowledge, we can foster research pathways in the reserve that promote long-term relevant academic studies.

 

Currently, we are working to provide articles that translate peer-reviewed academic studies that have been conducted within the biosphere reserve to easy, accessible works available for everyone. Additionally, abstracts and contact information for the original study are provided.
