The three MAB Functions of Ranong MAB:

 

As listed in the Statutory Framework of the World Network of Biosphere Reserves, the three functions of the reserves are intended as follows:

 

Conservation Function - Contribute to the conservation of landscapes, ecosystems, species and genetic variation;

 

Development Function: Foster economic and human development which is socio-culturally and ecologically sustainable;

 

Logistic Function: Support for demonstration projects, environmental education and training, research monitoring related to local, regional, national, and global issues of conservation and sustainable development.

 

The Ranong Man and Biosphere Reserve looks to holistically fulfill each of these three functions.
